Information about the English Proficiency Exam and Placement Exam for 2025 YKS Students

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION AND PLACEMENT EXAM INFORMATION

• The information about the English Proficiency Exam and Placement Exam for students who have been placed in our university through the 2025 YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam) is shared below. Students can choose between the English Proficiency Exam and the Placement Exam based on the information provided.

• Students who believe their English level is sufficient to be exempt from the English Preparatory Unit have the option to choose the English Proficiency Exam. If students think their English level is not sufficient for the Proficiency Exam, they are expected to take the Placement Exam. Please review the Exam Preference Brochure, sample Proficiency Exam, and click here to submit your preference.

• The English Proficiency Exam will be held on September 15-16, 2025, in the exam rooms in the Central Campus (September 15, 2025 – Written Section; September 16, 2025 – Speaking Section).

• For students who do not take the exam or do not achieve the required English score in the Proficiency Exam to proceed to their department, the Placement Exam will be conducted on September 22, 2025, in the exam rooms in the Central Campus, to determine the level at which they will start their English Preparatory Unit. • Students who do not take the Placement Exam will start at the A1 level, the beginner level, regardless of their English proficiency (Click here for information on levels).

• The principles regarding exemption from the English Preparatory Unit are as follows:

• Students who pass this exam are allowed to continue their registered programs.
• The applications of students who have a recognized exam result with equivalence and scores accepted by our University Senate are evaluated by the English Preparatory Unit. Students with documented exams and sufficient scores are allowed to continue their registered programs (Please review the “Student Information Guide” for equivalence of language exams).
• Students who have completed their secondary education in a country where English is spoken as the native language and where the medium of instruction has been English for at least the last three years are allowed to continue their registered programs.
• Students who have successfully completed the English Preparatory Unit at Çankaya University in previous years are directly allowed to continue their registered programs.
