STUDENT COMPETENCIES ALIGNED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS

At CUPS, students are expected to acquire the following competencies:

  • To use English effectively in spoken and written forms by engaging appropriately in different social and academic contexts.
  • To understand English as an international means of communication and a tool for intercultural interaction, and to use it accordingly.
  1. Comprehension and Critical Thinking
  • To develop effective reading strategies to understand, interpret, and critically evaluate various types of texts.
  • To improve listening comprehension skills in order to understand, interpret, and analyze different types of spoken input.
  • To use critical and reflective thinking skills to make conscious, logical, and evidence-based evaluations.
  1. Independent and Lifelong Learning
  • To become an autonomous learner who takes responsibility for their learning by setting goals, using effective study strategies, and regularly reflecting on their progress.
  • To adapt to change, manage long-term learning tasks, and handle exam processes with confidence.

  • To use current digital tools and AI-supported technologies safely, creatively, and responsibly in order to support communication and learning.
